李宏是一个能带给人惊喜并在许多方面都出人意料的艺术家。她来自中国，如今已在澳大利亚崭露头角。

Lee Hong is an exciting and in many ways unexpected artist to emerge into the Australian scene from China.

不同于普通人眼中的中国艺术家（李宏毕业于中国著名的中央美术学院，随后在新州大学艺术学院获得学位），李宏的作品往往与中国传统的主题与技法相去甚远，她大胆地摒弃了矫情的笔触、神秘的风景、虚无飘渺的美丽人物、夸张的雕塑形式、精准的流行艺术图像，却执着地表达着鲜明的个性，其作品多源自深层的自我情感。

She does not fit into common perceptions of artists trained in China (Lee attended the prestigious Central Academy of Art in Beijing, followed by a degree at COFA). Her work barely references established Chinese traditions in terms of both subject and technique.  There are no delicate brushstrokes here, no enigmatic landscapes, no ethereal and beautiful figures.  Nor are there bold sculptural forms, and precisely rendered pop-art imagery. Lee is one of those artists whose work is her own, drawn from a deeply personal sensibility.

李宏将她的作品比作“与光的碰撞”。在一定程度上，她作品中的所有元素都在相互碰撞——色彩、线条、形状，由此带来的神奇效果即化为对生命的肯定，画作中的光线引领我们从过去走到现在。

Lee describes her work as a collision with light.  In a sense all elements of her composition bump up against each other - colour, line, shape.  The resulting alchemy is an affirmation of life.  Light moves us from the past to the present.

李宏的作品充满迫切感，画笔的角度和走向活力四射，创作的过程集中体现出画家努力捕捉到由此及彼的那一瞬间。

It is urgent work. There is vigour in the stroke and angle of the brush.  What Lee wants is to capture the moment between here and there.

在那一瞬间，相似的主题反复出现，画中的主体形象突出，但着笔却是相当节制，呈现出扭曲而近似卡通的形象。画面通过硕大的头部、夸张的手势和突兀的型体散发着能量，时而表现得鲜活，展望未来而沉浸于自我；时而表现得惊异，似乎意识到观众的注目。

In that moment, there are recurring motifs.  A dominant, sparsely sketched figure - distorted, almost cartoon-like.  The figure exudes energy with large and prominent head,fingered hands gesturing., bulky body elbowing into the space. Sometimes the figure is active and self-absorbed looking into the future; sometimes the figure appears caught in mid-stride, stunned as if aware that we are looking.

画中的主体不时被置于抽象的景观中，而景观扭曲的角度和色彩又与主体的动态相映成趣，其中不时出现的树木显得异常活跃，它们随着气候转换和时间流逝律动，体现着季节的变化。动物如鸟和狗则以锋利的喙、强壮的下颌，显示出强烈的自信。这一切并不显得被动或具有侵略性，只是以突如其来的姿态进入观众的视野。

From time to time, this figure is placed in an abstracted landscape - a landscape whose skewed angles and colours are in tune with the figure in motion.  Trees appear.  They are actively alive, harbingers of seasonal change, moving with the weather and passage of time. Birds and dogs arrive as well -sharp beaked, strong-jawed, confidently postured beings.  They are neither passive nor aggressive – simply thrusting their way into the field of vision before moving on.

李宏的艺术在很大程度上归功于她作为一个木刻版画家的背景，形象多以线条勾勒，时而以色彩填充或包围，时而留以空白来讲述完整故事。然而对李宏这样一位充满激情的艺术家来说，木刻版画形象的重复性对于她则显得太过于沉寂，她要让每一幅作品都成为独特生活的写真，展现出从过去到现在的轨迹。

Lee’s art owes much to her background as a woodblock printmaker. Lines serve to outline and move the eye around the image - sometimes filled and surrounded with colour, sometimes left to tell the full story.  But the repetition of image in printmaking is too static a practice for an artist with the restless energy of Lee Hong.  Rather than editions, each panel of her work is a unique sliver of life, a transition from past to present.

李宏是一位真正的艺术家，她执着于以视觉艺术来诠释对生活的热爱。这一执着并非通过对美或道德的精致呈现，而是完全来自她的生活本身。

Lee is a true artist, constantly searching for a way to visually express her passion for life. Her message of affirmation is not delivered by delicate representation of beauty or moral concept, but by the sheer act of living itself.
